Prison visit

The cage in the video is the carry-cage we use to take them in the car; as you can see, they also regard it as a playpen. They're really good about travelling, so far; they don't particularly enjoy it, but they mostly just snuggle up together in the cage and wait it out.

We've been trying to film her antics with the Venetian blinds, but, as she tends to start them around 8 in the evening, all of our attempts have come out too dark to see what's going on. Instead, here's a video of her playing with a little dangly beetle on an elastic.

Onward and (literally) upward

Having conquered the windowsill, Ayesha has been climbing up the Venetian blinds like they were a ladder.

Zhukov, meanwhile, took a few swipes at Michael Hogan as we caught up on BSG season 4; he's definitely determined to get to Tricia Helfer, and he'll fight anyone who gets in his way.

Ayesha discovered the windowsill last night; she jumped off the chair, slipped behind the Venetian blinds, and made several surprised noises before coming out and making a few experimental leaps to verify that it went the whole way round. She's been eyeing up the mantlepiece all day. Pretty soon there'll be no stopping her.

Before we got them, we got several cat toys, all of which they've ignored up till this week, but now, they're all over them.

In which Zhukhov stalks, catches and incapacitates a remote-controlled mouse, demonstrating his superiority over our decadent capitalist technology. Apologies for the various fits of decadent capitalist laughter (which he didn't appreciate).

Zhukov's first crush

Alan was reading Battlestar Galactica: The Official Companion earlier, with Zhukov sitting on his lap. When Alan got to a picture of Tricia Helfer, Zhukov started pawing it.

A page or two later, seeing a picture of James Callis with Tricia Helfer, Zhukov rolled over and began clawing and biting Callis.

We're a little worried.

In the papers

Ayesha decided to join Zhukov in the newspaper business:

...for their second round of shots. They were both really well behaved, apart from a few expressions of protest at being taken around in their cat-carrier. For the moment they're sleeping it off.

Fast news day

Zhukhov got into a bag containing a new glass lampshade for the home office, and came out with some of the newspaper put in there to protect it. Result:

Cats and the snow

The recent inclement weather has meant that Ayesha has been riveted to the window, watching the snow fall; Zhukov normally can't care less, unless someone tracks snow into the house, in which case he plays with it and gets his fur wet. Ayesha is definitely the more visual of the two; she likes to hop on the TV stand and chase the little Colonial Vipers or what have you on the screen (today, watching Breakfast Television, she started batting at Sian Williams for some strange reason), where Zhukov generally ignores it. However, both of them were most impressed with the toboggan race scene in On Her Majesty's Secret Service.
