Since his return from the vet's, Ayesha has been afraid of Zhukov. We're doing everything the cat behaviourists tell you to, and she is getting more and more tolerant of his presence, but in this video you can hear her growling.

A sad tail


On Friday, as we were loading the car to go out to Gloucestershire, a sudden gust of wind caught the front door (which had been propped open), shutting it on the tip of Zhukov's tail. Cue trip to the emergency vet! He is now full of painkillers and antibiotics and, unfortunately, with an appointment for surgery on Monday for a tail-tip-ectomy. Zhukov himself seems fairly blase about the whole thing, and mainly just ticked off about not being allowed out of the house; he is spending a lot of time curled up on the bathmat, which for some reason he does when he's out of sorts:
