Who's in the box?

A Mouse's Tail

For Christmas, Ayesha and Zhuki got a little mouse toy that runs around randomly on its own. The drama unfolds!

First, Zhuki was afraid of it:

Then, it started to make itself a bit too much at home:

Then, with Ayesha now getting involved, Zhuki became bolder:

Before long, everybody was playing happily together:

Zhukov in a box

For Christmas, my parents sent me a present which came from Amazon in a four-foot-long, two-foot-high, box. Needless to say it is now the cats' favourite plaything. The box, I mean, obviously...

More overgrooming

The vet's put him on a special diet and given him a steroid shot, both of which are helping, but he's lost an awful lot of fur.

Apologies for the darkness of this video-- I wanted to record the way he was leaping around, but the Blackberry was the closest thing to hand.

Zhukov's convalescence

Apologies for the lack of posts. The main reason has been that poor Zhukov has not been well, he's been suffering from a series of infections which, after five fraught weeks, the vet finally thinks we've knocked on the head. He's on the mend now, but it's been a tough time for him.

While convalescing, he's been restricted to quarters and only allowed out on a lead:

Ayesha's turf war

The backstory to this: Ayesha came in one afteroon with a teenaged starling, again, but this time with its mother in hot pursuit. We got the baby away from her, checked it was OK, and released it back into the wild. However, this was far from the end of it as far as the mother was concerned, and she spent the next forty-eight hours hurling abuse at Ayesha from the neighbours' fence, a challenge Ayesha did not take lightly.

Zhukov zonked out: on the square

While sorting the laundry, I left an unfolded flannel on the bed. I went away for a minute and came back, to find it occupied.
